Description
E-cadherin mouse antibody is a transmembrane glycoprotein that mediates epithelial cell-cell adhesion. The loss of E-cadherin can result in the disruption of cell clusters. It has been postulated in literature that E-cadherin may function as a tumor suppressor protein. Several studies have associated the loss of E-cadherin with metastasis and poor prognosis in invasive breast cancer. Additional studies have suggested that E-cadherin can help differentiate between ductal and lobular neoplasms of the breast. E-cadherin immunostaining has also been shown to be an independent predictor of disease progression in bladder cancer.
